Twins Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Tuesday, February 21, 2012
Coming off a 99-loss season, the Twins have been buried in preseason talk the way they were buried in the AL Central in 2011, when they went first to worst and finished 32 games behind first-place Detroit. The defending champ—which advanced to the ALCS, boasts the reigning AL MVP and Cy Young winner in Justin Verlander and signed first baseman Prince Fielder this winter—is the clear front-runner. Minnesota, which has won six division titles in 10 years but never got above .500 last season, is an afterthought. After watching a division preview that failed to mention the Twins, centerfielder Denard Span joked, "I was like, 'Did we changed divisions?' " But general manager Terry Ryan made some serious, if not very splashy, moves this offseason to fill in holes...

Twins closer Capps eager for another chance (AP)
Monday, February 20, 2012
After getting booed out of Target Field more times than he'd care to remember in 2011, it would be understandable if Minnesota Twins closer Matt Capps grabbed the first airplane out of the Twin Cities and never looked back. Instead, Capps couldn't say yes fast enough when the Twins gave him a chance to return.

Twins rotation gets little help in offseason (AP)
Sunday, February 19, 2012
Ron Gardenhire has already settled on an opening-day starter, and the Minnesota Twins' rotation is all but set. And there is still so much uncertainty surrounding the group as spring training begins. Pitchers and catchers held their first official workout on Sunday, with 33 pitchers in uniform, an unusually high number geared toward creating competition for bullpen spots.

Mauer ready from Day 1 of spring training (AP)
Saturday, February 18, 2012
For most of his baseball life, Joe Mauer has been anything but normal. The Twins catcher has been a star since he was a teenager growing up in St. Paul, Minn., and that didn't stop in his first six seasons in the big leagues. He was a four-time All-Star, three-time batting champion and the AL MVP in 2009.

Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer would be doing himself a big favor if he tried to emulate the way Hall of Famer Gary Carter played the game. Carter, a member of the 1986 World Series champion New York Mets, died from brain cancer on Feb.

Fan's Take: 2012 Should Be Alexi Casilla's Last Shot at Making an Impact for Twins (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
Thursday, February 16, 2012
